Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken

2 Chicken thighs
5 Cloves garlic
1 Basil

2 tsp Soy Sauce

1 tsp Rice Alcohol

1/2 tsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Pepper salt
6 tbsp Sweet Potato Powder

Steps

Cut chicken thighs to bite-size. Marinate it with soy sauce, rice alcohol, sugar, and garlic chunks. Keep it in the fridge for 20-30 min.

Prepare a container for sweet potato powder. Toss the marinated chicken in the powder and shake it well for coating. Let it sit a bit till the surface is moist then coat it lightly again.

Heat 1-2 inches of oil in a pot over high heat. Fry the chicken for 5 min or till the surface turn golden brown. Remove from the oil and drain it on paper towels. Season with salt and pepper and it’s ready to serve!
Tip: Coat basil with the powder and fast fry it in medium heat oil if you like for adding flavor and plating! Be careful with oil splattering!
